The American Board of Internal Medicine has released an important new document designed to help deepen conversations as we work to build a health care system that better meets the needs of patients and society by reducing cost and improving care:

Principles Guiding Wise Choices:
The Responsibility of Physicians, Patients and
the Health Care Community in Building a Sustainable System

The Principles offer a broad view of how physicians—along with patients, hospitals, health systems, the medical education and training system, medical groups and health policy organizations—can engage in the effort to provide higher quality care that acknowledges that the resources our society can devote to health care are finite.
