Richard J. Baron, MD, President & CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine
Dr. Baron, board certified in internal medicine and geriatrics, is President and CEO of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the ABIM Foundation. Dr. Baron was a former Chair of the American Board of Internal Medicine’s Board of Directors.
Previously, Dr. Baron served as Group Director of Seamless Care Models at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation Center, where he led efforts related to Accountable Care Organizations and primary care. Prior to his CMS appointment, Dr. Baron practiced general internal medicine and geriatrics at Greenhouse Internists, P.C., located in Philadelphia. Greenhouse has been a pioneer in the comprehensive adoption of electronic health records in the small-practice environment. Until joining the federal government, Dr. Baron also served on the Board of the National Quality Forum and their Health Information Technology Advisory Committee, as well as the Standards Committee of the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
Maureen Bisognano, President and CEO, Institute for Healthcare Improvement
Maureen Bisognano, President and CEO, Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), previously served as IHI’s Executive Vice President and COO for 15 years. She is a prominent authority on improving health care systems, whose expertise has been recognized by her elected membership to the Institute of Medicine and by her appointment to The Commonwealth Fund’s Commission on a High Performance Health System, among other distinctions. Ms. Bisognano advises health care leaders around the world, is a frequent speaker at major health care conferences on quality improvement, and is a tireless advocate for change. She is also an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, a Research Associate in the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Division of Social Medicine and Health Inequalities, and serves on the boards of the Commonwealth Fund, ThedaCare Center for Healthcare Value, and Mayo Clinic Health System―Eau Claire. Prior to joining IHI, she served as CEO of the Massachusetts Respiratory Hospital and Senior Vice President of The Juran Institute.
Cheryl Bettigole, MD, MPH, President of the National Physicians Alliance
Dr. Cheryl Bettigole, President of the National Physicians Alliance, is a family physician and the Chief Medical Officer of Complete Care Health Network, a group of community health centers serving southern New Jersey. Prior to her current position, she worked for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health where she served as clinical director of a city clinic from 2006-2011. While with the health department in Philadelphia, she worked to improve services for patients of limited English proficiency and to implement chronic disease management programs. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Jefferson Medical College, completed her residency in Family Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and completed her Masters in Public Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where she received a Capstone award for her work on interpretation services in a public health clinic setting.
