State-Specific Fellowship for Physicians and Medical Students:
NPA and the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) are opening a call for applicants from California, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Virginia take part in a 6-month advocacy fellowship focused on gun violence prevention. Participants will receive education about public health approaches to gun violence prevention; communications, media, and advocacy training; and strategic coordination with NPA leaders and coalition allies via monthly conference calls. Participants will be expected to take part in colleague engagement and education and—where appropriate—to serve as physician spokespersons in their communities, voicing the need for a public health approach to gun violence prevention. This fellowship is unpaid. The time commitment will be approximately 5-10 hrs/month, Jan-June.
NPA National Advocacy Taskforce on Gun Violence Prevention:
NPA is currently accepting applications from physicians to serve on our volunteer National Advocacy Taskforce on Gun Violence Prevention. The Taskforce meets monthly via conference call to advance the organization’s strategic planning around gun violence prevention. Upcoming work will include colleague and policy-maker engagement, patient and community education, and policy development. Taskforce members should expect regular email communications and responsiveness will be important.
