tandem health

You may have already heard about NPA’s work on Tandem Health, an exciting new project under development in partnership with Consumer Reports. Tandem Health is an industry-free, point-of-care prescribing app designed to support shared decision making. We are putting out a call for applicants for two exciting Tandem Health opportunities: Co-Director and Fellow.

Call for Applicants: Tandem Health Project Co-Director:

We have arrived at the beta-testing stage of the Tandem Health project and are now seeking a volunteer co-director to take this work to the next level. If you enjoy writing and editing (especially medical content, though you don’t need to be published in the field); find visual learning of interest; like working across disciplines and know how to work with teams across time zones and institutions; and get a kick out of building things from the ground up, this may be a great fit for you.

All signs point to a trajectory of growth for this project. Tandem met with real enthusiasm at our recent national conference and many clinical networks have volunteered to help with beta testing. Consumer Reports also brings a wonderful, talented team to the effort. Like NPA, Consumer Reports refuses funding from pharmaceutical and medical device companies. This core commitment to industry independence will make Tandem a uniquely valuable and trustworthy tool for patients and providers.

Tandem’s co-director will assist with project management. Responsibilities will include: playing a liaison role with beta-testing sites, helping to collect and integrate feedback from user testing; oversight of content development; and some focus on the project’s long-term business model. We are looking for someone who is organized and reliably responsive to communications, as timelines will matter. This position will involve 4-8 hrs/wk in volunteer commitment. (Please know we are seeking funding for this project with hopes that this could evolve into a paid position—likely ¼ time—in the future.)

If you are looking for a rewarding and frankly fun project that offers tremendous promise for advancing high-value, responsible prescribing, apply by sending a brief statement of interest, your CV, and a writing sample to stephen.martin@npalliance.net. The deadline for applications is January 10th.

Call for Applicants: Tandem Health Fellowship:

NPA is offering a one-year, unpaid TandemHealth fellowship position to the right medical student: someone who shares our commitment to conflict-free medicine and who enjoys building amazing things from the ground up.

If you like writing and editing (especially medical content, though you don’t need to be published in the field); find visual learning of interest; enjoy working across disciplines; and know how to work with teams across time zones and institutions, this may be a great fit for you.

It is designed to help new prescribers in particular develop healthy habits out-of-the-gate.

The Tandem Health Fellowship will involve assisting with all aspects of project management. Responsibilities will include: communicating with beta-testing sites, helping to collect and integrate feedback from user testing; reference-checking of content; and oversight of various project logistics. If you have interest in business models and product development, they’ll be plenty of room for that visioning as well.
