National Committees

One of the ways to become active in the NPA is to join a National Committee.  There's something for everyone and we can use your expertise and enthusiasm.  Contact the committee chairs at the emails below for more information or to join.

Policy Committee

We are currently working on policy papers for the NPA's priority issues.  These papers are living documents for public consumption that lay out problems in our health care system and offer up the NPA's solutions.  These positions will establish our identity and shape our political activities.  We are beginning to mobilize smaller groups of members as pertinent issues arise in local government or as we target specific federal legislators.  Soon, we will be forming subcommittees on each of our priority issues.  If you would like to help us with our policy papers or help organize at the local level, please contact us.

Meetings and Retreats Committee

We are working to plan the NPA's 3rd Annual Meeting to be held in March, 2008 in Houston, TX.  We are also developing smaller retreats and regional meetings in the coming months.  To help with sessions, speakers, reviewing abstracts, logistics, and more, contact us.

Communications Committee

We are helping to get the word out about the NPA, through the media in traditional and nontraditional ways.  We need creative thinkers, excellent writers, public relations gurus, and others interested in marketing and relationship-building.  Contact us to become a member of our exciting committee.

Ethics Committee

We are developing professional guidelines related to physician-industry relationships.  Contact us to become involved.

Membership Committee

Our goals are two-fold: to recruit more members and to provide services and benefits for current members.  We research promising benefits, negotiate benefit terms, provide incentives for recruiting members, and work with the House Parties subcommittee to educate physicians about the NPA.  To be a part of this very important committee, contact us.

Development Committee

There are two major tasks for us: 1) generate funds through individual donor gifts; and 2) write proposals to foundations for funding to help us achieve our mission and grow as an organization.  If you are a person who enjoys meeting and talking with people from all walks of life, developing long- and short-term strategies, or writing proposals, please contact us to become a part of our committee.

Organizational Structure Committee

We are the committee that developed the NPA's bylaws.  Currently we are developing the details of our Board and Leadership elections.  We frequently seek experts' opinions but also work together to find creative and new ways to do things.  If you're interested in becoming a part of this unique committee, contact us.
