Program Name/Date and Location

National Grand Rounds – Managing Industry Conflict of Interest in the Clinical &Academic Setting in conjunction with the American Medical Student Association’s Empowering Future Physicians Conference at Nova Southeastern University and College of Osteopathic Medicine, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  The webcast of the live event on October 12, 2012 was recorded for enduring materials for online viewing and CME.

Target Audience

Physicians, medical students, allied health professionals, and others interested in health policy.

Learning Objectives

  • Raise awareness among prescribers about pharmaceutical industry marketing  strategies focused on medical students and physicians to influence prescribing habits
  • Describe health policy, research and patient care implications for providers and patients resulting from industry relationships that create conflicts of interest
  • Identify best practices and advocacy opportunities for medical students and physicians to identify, address and manage potential conflicts of interest in the academic and clinical setting

Accreditation

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of CME Outfitters, LLC and the National Physicians Alliance.  CME Outfitters, LLC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
