On Thursday June 25th, hundreds of physicians and nurses will travel to Washington, DC for a massive day of action for real health care reform. The health care providers will participate in a huge rally on Capitol Hill, attend a town hall meeting, and meet with their Members of Congress. National Physicians Alliance President-Elect Dr.Valerie Arkoosh and Gov. Howard Dean will speak at the large rally and then accompany fellow doctors and nurses to a provider-specific town hall. The provider town hall meeting will take place at 1:30 pm at the Washington Court Hotel, 525 New Jersey Ave., NW.

Press can follow the day’s events on Twitter at #healthcare09.

The entire day of action – called “Health Care 09. We Can’t Wait” – is being put together by Health Care for America Now (HCAN) – the largest health care campaign in the country. Thousands people will gather at 11:30am on Thursday at the Upper Senate Park on Capitol Hill to participate in a large-scale rally showing Congress that real health care reform cannot wait. The crowd will then split off into state and issue specific town halls.

Throughout the day, doctors and nurses will also meet with lawmakers to give their unique perspective on what needs to be done to fix health care and to urge Congress to act now and pass real health care reform including a robust public health insurance option.   For more information on the rally or town hall, please contact Doug Gordon at dgordon@fenton.com or (202) 822-5200.
