U.S. Senate Introduces Long-Awaited Health Reform Bill

U.S. House of Representatives Passes Historic Health Reform Bill!

On November 7, the U.S. House of Representatives passed HR3962, the Affordable Health Care for America Act, with a vote of 220-215 (click here to see how your rep voted).  For a rich summary of the bill from the House Ways and Means, Energy and Commerce, and Education and Labor Committees, click here.  For the full text of the bill, click here.

Inaugural National Grand Rounds

On Monday October 5th, the National Physicians Alliance Foundation, in partnership with the American Medical Student Association, convened a first-of-its-kind National Grand Rounds in Washington, DC.  The panel, moderated by Dr. Arthur Kellermann, included health policy advisers from HHS, the Senate HELP Committee, and the House Energy and Commerce Committee who fielded diverse questions from physicians all over the country.  The webcast of this event is now available for viewing at

Poll Finds Most Doctors Support a Public Option

A new study published in theNew England Journal of Medicine finds that when polled, nearly three-quarters of physicians supported some form of a public option, either alone or in combination with private insurance options.  Read more….
