National Physicians Alliance Adamantly Opposes Senate Health Care Bill

Statement attributable to National Physicians Alliance President, Manan Trivedi, MD, MPP:

“The Senate healthcare bill released today is shameful and will do harm to millions of Americans. Representing providers from every state and across all specialties, we at the National Physicians Alliance know that our patients will suffer immensely if this bill is passed.”

“This proposal would deny millions of Americans care just to give more tax cuts to the wealthiest of Americans. Its fundamental changes to Medicaid would leave children, seniors and people with disabilities at ever-increasing risk. Premiums and out-of-pocket costs would rise forcing patients to pay more for less coverage and allowing states to eliminate essential health benefit standard would decimate protections for those with pre-existing conditions.”

“As physicians, we took an oath to ‘Do No Harm’ but this bill does the exact opposite. That is why the National Physicians Alliance stands in firm opposition to this legislation”

The National Physicians Alliance seeks to create a caring and just society that improves the health of our patients and communities. Through education and advocacy, we bring together physicians across all specialties who share our values of service, integrity, and putting our patients first. We are committed to evidence-based medicine and transparency and do not accept funding from pharmaceutical or medical device companies.
